Both adventurous travellers, it wasn’t unusual for Irem and Tony to be on a city break in Rome. But after exploring every corner of the city, they decided to go on a spontaneous drive down to Sorrento. No hotel booked, no plans! It started out fun, but after a while, Tony started to suggest to Irem that maybe everywhere would be booked up since it was the weekend and hinted they might have to sleep in the car. Irem started to panic – images of the two of them wondering the streets in the dark filled her mind! Then, Tony mentioned they should try to get to a special place to see the sunset that their concierge in Rome had told him about. Irem agreed. She worried about their car being towed since they had parked outside a very nice looking hotel… but Tony hurried her along so as not to miss the sunset. Confused, but complacent, Irem followed along. Not suspecting anything, since Tony had never booked a hotel or a holiday before, Irem was very surprised to hear Tony at the reception of the hotel saying that they had a reservation! In the room, she opened the French doors to the balcony and was greeted with the most amazing sea view. The hotel was on the side of the cliff so it was stunning! Amazed and emotional already, Irem then heard the beautiful words of Tony, as he proposed to her there on the balcony.
The view of the sea holds a special place in the memories of Irem and Tony, so it isn’t surprising that they wanted a wedding by the sea. They visited 11 venues in the Cornwall area, but when they visited this Carbis Bay Hotel, they just knew it was the one! As they walked around and especially as they walked down to the beach, it was easy to imagine getting married there. They had friends and family visiting from aboard so they also wanted a hotel for people to stay in. The building has a lot of character but has been modernized. Irem loved the simple elegance of the building that mixed old and new seamlessly. The beach here is stunning! The sand is clean and clear, and the water is blue. It was a fantastic place for a creative session with the couple!
Irem was born in the UK to her Greek-Turkish and Armenian mother and Turkish father, and Tony is German. They both live in Wales. At their wedding they wanted to merge the many cultures and do the little things they enjoy such as eat pretzels, fish and chips in the evening, walking down the Isled on the beach, candy floss and lots of music and dancing! They went for a small wedding and only invited close family and friends.
We built a great connection with this couple and this is the feedback they kindly gave us: “We looked through thousands of wedding videos and after a while they all looked almost identical but when we came across your videos we saw a different style. The detail in your wedding videos are amazing…we felt like we were there and we didn’t get bored watching them.”
